Doppler Phases and Gamma Doppler Gems: A CS2 Pricing Guide

How to tell Doppler Phases 1–4 from Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl and Emerald, why market names hide the phase, and how gem premiums looked in October 2026.

"★ Karambit | Doppler (Factory New)" is one market name covering items whose prices differ by thousands of dollars. The name leaves out the one thing that matters most: the phase. If you buy or sell Doppler knives without checking it, you are guessing.

What Doppler and Gamma Doppler are

Doppler is a knife finish that arrived with the Chroma Case; Gamma Doppler followed with the Gamma Case and swaps the palette for greens and teals. On knives, both finishes have a float range of 0.00–0.08, so they only exist in Factory New and Minimal Wear.

Each finish comes in several variants. Under the hood, each phase is a separate finish with its own catalogue number, which you can see in the in-game inspect panel. On the Steam Market, though, every phase shares one item name, so the phase has to be confirmed from the item itself.

The variants

Doppler

  • Phase 1: dark, mostly black with purple and pink.
  • Phase 2: brighter pink and purple. Usually the most sought-after of the four regular phases.
  • Phase 3: blue and green tones. Usually the least in demand.
  • Phase 4: mostly blue, with some purple. Blue-heavy copies are popular.
  • Ruby: solid deep red.
  • Sapphire: solid deep blue.
  • Black Pearl: dark, near-black with a blue-purple sheen.

Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are known as the gems. They are much rarer than the regular phases and priced as separate items.

Gamma Doppler

Gamma Doppler has four regular phases in greens, blues and darker tones, and one gem: Emerald, a vivid solid green. The family pages for Doppler and Gamma Doppler list every knife that carries each finish.

Why phase prices are hard to read

Most marketplaces label phases, but price aggregation is still messy. On cs2skins.gg, the Karambit Doppler Phase 2 page and the pages for Phases 1, 3 and 4 all showed the same cheapest Factory New listing on October 14, 2026: $1,091.11. Many stores list regular phases under the shared Doppler name, so the floor reflects whichever phase is cheapest that day, usually not the one you want.

Gems are easier because stores label them more consistently. Even so, a "cheapest Doppler" number tells you little about a specific Phase 2 or Phase 4 knife. Look for phase-labelled listings and compare those.

Gem premiums as of October 14, 2026

Here are cheapest Factory New Karambit listings tracked on cs2skins.gg on October 14, 2026:

Karambit (Factory New) Cheapest listing
Doppler, cheapest regular phase $1,091.11
Doppler (Sapphire) $4,324.03
Doppler (Black Pearl) $6,112.19 (single listing; next $7,500.00)
Doppler (Ruby) $7,107.06
Gamma Doppler, cheapest regular phase $1,421.91
Gamma Doppler (Emerald) $6,504.51

Gems sold at roughly four to seven times the regular-phase floor on this knife. Don't read a permanent ranking into the order of the gems: thin order books mean one or two listings can reshuffle it, and the Black Pearl floor here rests on a single listing.

The Minimal Wear numbers are a reminder of how float caps work. With a 0.00–0.08 range, Minimal Wear covers only 0.07–0.08. On the same date, the cheapest MW Sapphire Karambit was $4,414.23, slightly above the FN floor, while the cheapest MW Emerald was $5,699.95, below FN.

The knife model matters as much as the gem

A gem doesn't make every knife expensive. On the same day, a Factory New Navaja Knife | Doppler (Sapphire) was listed from $182.66. The Navaja sits near the bottom of knife demand, and the gem premium scales with the base model. Before comparing gem prices, compare the regular-phase floors of the two knives.

Pattern still matters within a phase

The paint seed shifts how much of each colour lands on the visible side of the blade. Within Phase 2, copies with more pink sell better. Within Phase 4, traders talk about "max blue" knives with as much blue as possible. These premiums are negotiated case by case, so public floors understate what the best patterns sell for.

A cheaper way into gems: Glock-18 Gamma Doppler

Gamma Doppler also appears on the Glock-18 as a Covert skin from The 2021 Train Collection, with a wider float range of 0.00–0.50 and the same Emerald variant. The cheapest Factory New Glock-18 | Gamma Doppler (Emerald) was listed at $315.21 on October 14, 2026, a fraction of a gem knife.

Pricing a Doppler you want to sell

Selling raises the same problem from the other side. If you list a Phase 2 knife against the shared Doppler floor, you will probably sell it to a buyer who knows the phase better than you do. A better process:

  • Find current listings on stores that label phases, for the same knife, phase and exterior.
  • Adjust for float within Factory New. A 0.01 knife and a 0.06 knife look similar, but buyers still pay for the lower number on expensive items.
  • Add a pattern premium only if the play side clearly shows it, and expect to wait longer for the right buyer.
  • Subtract fees. Many Doppler knives also price near or above the Steam Market's per-item ceiling, so most of these sales happen on third-party stores.

How to buy a Doppler without overpaying

  1. Confirm the phase from the item. Use the inspect panel, the store's own phase label or the listing's screenshot of that exact item. A title or chat message is not proof.
  2. Compare like with like. Match the knife model, the phase, the exterior and roughly the float.
  3. Check the pattern if you are paying a premium. "Max blue" or "max pink" claims should be visible on the play side.
  4. Watch for phase confusion in trades. Scammers swap a cheap phase for an expensive one at the confirmation step. Read the item in the Steam trade confirmation before accepting.
  5. Compare stores. Gem order books are thin, and the gap between the cheapest and the next store can be hundreds of dollars. The marketplace comparison page shows where listings are cheapest.
