"Most valuable" can mean three different things in Dota 2. It can mean the priciest single copy, which usually turns out to be one seller's optimistic ask. It can mean the item with the deepest buyer demand. Or it can mean the item with the most money sitting in listings right now. This post uses the third definition, because it's the one the dota2skins.gg market cap ranking measures.

How the market cap is calculated

The Dota 2 market cap page defines it as the total value of Dota 2 items listed on the Steam Community Market, based on Steam prices and active listings, updated hourly. For each item, that's the lowest Steam ask multiplied by the number of active Steam listings.

As of October 14, 2026, the total stood at $2,445,693.93 across 33,381 items with at least one Steam listing.

It's best read as listed value, not total supply. Copies sitting in inventories, listed on other marketplaces or never put up for sale don't count. Keep that in mind as you read the ranking.

The top ten

# Item Type Steam ask Listings Listed value
1 Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2026 Treasure $166.95 168 $28,047.60
2 Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2025 Treasure $183.10 82 $15,014.20
3 Intergalactic Orbliterator Earthshaker Arcana bundle $113.00 118 $13,334.00
4 Mace of Aeons Faceless Void Immortal $340.32 38 $12,932.16
5 Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2024 Treasure $153.00 84 $12,852.00
6 Dead Reckoning Chest Treasure $0.31 37,874 $11,740.94
7 Dragonclaw Hook Pudge Immortal $351.76 30 $10,552.80
8 Fluttering Breeze Windranger Arcana bundle $116.30 77 $8,955.10
9 Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2018 Treasure $1,231.65 7 $8,621.55
10 Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2022 Treasure $395.50 20 $7,910.00

Together the top ten account for $129,960.35, about 5.3% of the total. The top 50 account for $338,794.94, about 13.9%. Dota 2's listed value is spread across tens of thousands of items rather than concentrated in a few.

What the ranking says

Crimson Witness treasures dominate

Five of the top ten, and seven of the top 18, are Treasures of the Crimson Witness. These yearly treasures go only to people attending The International in person, so their supply is fixed by attendance. The 2026 edition comes from TI 2026 in Shanghai in August and tops the table mainly because it's new: 168 copies were listed, far more than older editions.

Widen the view to the top 50 and 14 entries carry "Crimson Witness" in their name, counting opened items such as Hell-Spar Anathema of the Crimson Witness. Together they hold $118,665.60, about 35% of the top 50's listed value.

Re-released Arcanas

Intergalactic Orbliterator and Fluttering Breeze are tradable wrappers around Arcanas that were once Battle Pass exclusives, Earthshaker's Planetfall and Windranger's Compass of the Rising Gale. King Kringle, which wraps Wraith King's Arcana, sits just outside the top ten at $7,618.30. All three combine high prices with decent listing depth.

Old legends

Two of the oldest names in Dota 2 trading still rank near the top. Mace of Aeons came from Immortal Treasure I 2016. Dragonclaw Hook dates to 2012 and was pulled from the drop list in February 2013 after dropping by accident. Both also had thousands of Steam buy orders, 3,632 and 4,504 respectively, which points to real demand behind the listings.

Penny chests with enormous supply

The Dead Reckoning Chest ranks sixth at 31 cents, purely on volume. A cluster of other cheap chests sits around 23rd to 25th place:

  • Chest of Endless Days: $0.03 × 198,111 listings = $5,943.33
  • Frostivus 2023 Treasure Chest: $0.10 × 59,204 = $5,920.40
  • Hallowed Chest of the Diretide: $0.06 × 97,554 = $5,853.24

These rankings say more about how many people have listed a chest than about anyone wanting it.

An oddity worth noticing

The Resurrection of Shen - Wings, a single piece of Vengeful Spirit's Crownfall Arcana, ranked 14th with 399 listings at $18.29. Liquipedia notes that the Wings unpacked from Arcana Token copies of that Arcana came out tradable and marketable by mistake. If that's right, it would explain why one piece of an Arcana has such deep supply.

What a listed market cap misses

The ranking is useful, but it has blind spots:

  1. Items that don't list on Steam score zero. Platinum Baby Roshan had no Steam listings on October 14, 2026, so its listed value was $0, even though its cheapest third-party copy was $3,014.85. Anything above Steam's $1,800 listing cap is invisible here.
  2. Thin items depend on one seller. Crimson Witness 2018 ranks ninth on seven listings. One sale or one new ask moves its value by thousands of dollars. The page's own 24-hour column shows the effect: Unusual Baby Roshan was up 26.78% in a day on just 20 listings.
  3. More sellers can raise the number while prices fall. If 50 holders list at once, listed value jumps even as the ask drops. A rising market cap can mean people are trying to exit.
  4. History is short. The site's total market cap chart still shows "Not enough history yet", and Steam price history is backfilling. Don't read 30-day or all-time figures as complete records.

How to use the ranking

Treat it as a map of where money sits on Steam today, then dig into each item:

  • Check buy orders. Deep bids near the ask, like the Mace of Aeons and the Dragonclaw Hook, mean the listed value is backed by demand.
  • Count listings. Single-digit listing counts make the value fragile.
  • Look beyond Steam. Many top items trade below the Steam ask on cash marketplaces. The Treasure of the Crimson Witness 2025 started at $128.60 off Steam against Steam's $183.10. The marketplace comparison shows those spreads for every item.

The market cap ranking tells you which items have the most money listed against them on Steam. Whether that money would actually change hands at those prices is a separate question, and the buy orders answer it better than the ranking does.
