StatTrak and Souvenir Skins: How Each Tag Moves the Price
What StatTrak counters and Souvenir stickers add to a CS2 skin, how large the premiums are on popular skins today, and how 2026 changes reshaped Souvenirs.
Two copies of the same skin in the same exterior can differ in price by a factor of three because of a single word in the item name. "StatTrak™" and "Souvenir" are item qualities, and each one changes who wants the item and how many exist. Souvenirs in particular work very differently in 2026 than they did a year ago.
What StatTrak adds
A StatTrak™ weapon has a digital counter that tracks kills made by the item's owner. The counter appears on the weapon model in game, and for many players it makes their main rifle or pistol feel personal.
A few rules shape StatTrak supply:
- StatTrak versions come out of weapon cases (and now Terminals) alongside normal versions, but far less often.
- Knives can be StatTrak. Gloves never are.
- Map collection skins that drop outside cases, and Souvenir items, are not StatTrak.
- In trade-up contracts, StatTrak and normal items can't be mixed. Ten StatTrak inputs give a StatTrak output, and since October 2025, five StatTrak Covert skins can be traded for a StatTrak knife.
How big the StatTrak premium is today
The premium isn't a fixed multiplier. The table uses the cheapest Field-Tested listing tracked on cs2skins.gg for each version, as of October 14, 2026:
| Skin (Field-Tested) | Normal | StatTrak™ | Multiple |
|---|---|---|---|
| AK-47 Redline | $24.05 | $57.07 | 2.4x |
| AK-47 Vulcan | $154.19 | $298.90 | 1.9x |
| M4A1-S Printstream | $150.28 | $269.85 | 1.8x |
| USP-S Kill Confirmed | $56.30 | $179.98 | 3.2x |
Three things explain most of the spread:
- How much the gun gets used. A pistol you buy every pistol round, or a primary rifle, gets far more value from a visible kill count than a niche weapon does.
- Relative supply. StatTrak copies are a small share of each skin, but the share of copies actually listed for sale varies, and thin supply raises the multiple.
- Collector demand. Some skins are seen as "StatTrak skins" by the community, and buyers barely consider the normal version.
You can filter for StatTrak items across the catalogue on the StatTrak quality page.
What Souvenir used to mean
Until 2026, a Souvenir skin had one origin: a Souvenir Package tied to a specific Major match. Packages went to viewers during the event and could also be bought or traded afterwards. Opening one gave a map collection skin, from the collection matching the map played, with tournament stickers already applied (gold ones at recent Majors): both team logos, the event logo and often a player autograph.
That made Souvenirs collectible in a narrow way. Supply depended on how many packages were opened. The stickers tied the skin to a moment in esports history. Souvenir versions had no other source, which is why a Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore was long one of the most prestigious items in the game.
What changed in 2026
Two changes in Valve's May 22, 2026 update, released ahead of the IEM Cologne Major, rewrote those rules.
The Souvenir-O-Matic
For the Cologne 2026 Major, Valve dropped random Souvenir Packages and added the Souvenir-O-Matic. You take a normal or Souvenir weapon from your inventory, choose a completed Major match and one player from it, and pay in Major tokens. The weapon comes back in Souvenir quality with gold team, autograph and map stickers applied. Any stickers already on it are removed, and prices are set dynamically based on demand for the teams and players involved. Reporting at the time said StatTrak weapons weren't eligible.
The result: Souvenir quality now exists on skins that never had a Souvenir version before. The supply of Cologne 2026 Souvenirs depended on what players chose to convert, not on package drops.
Souvenirs in trade-ups
The same update allowed Souvenir items in trade-up contracts alongside normal items of the same rarity. Their Souvenir attributes are stripped, and the result is always a normal item. A Souvenir skin can now be used as an ordinary crafting ingredient.
What that looks like in prices
On October 14, 2026, the cheapest Souvenir M4A1-S | Knight in Factory New was listed at $2,228.33 on cs2skins.gg, while the cheapest normal Factory New Knight was $2,502.59. One snapshot doesn't prove a trend, and the Knight is a thin market. Still, a Souvenir trading below its normal version would have been unusual a few years ago. It shows that the Souvenir label no longer guarantees a premium.
What still moves Souvenir prices:
- The event and the match. Older events have fixed supply because those packages can no longer be created. Famous matches and finals draw more interest.
- The autograph. A gold autograph of a star player or a fan favourite matters more than an anonymous one.
- Sticker position and condition. On package Souvenirs, where the stickers land varies, and a well-placed autograph is a selling point.
- The base skin. Float, finish and collection still count; a Souvenir doesn't rescue an unpopular skin.

Buying tips
- Compare like with like. Check the StatTrak or Souvenir version's own price history, not the normal item's. Item pages on cs2skins.gg split prices by quality.
- Read the stickers on a Souvenir. The event, teams and autograph should match what the listing claims. The in-game inspect panel and Steam's updated Market listings both show applied stickers.
- Expect rules to keep changing. The PGL Major Singapore runs in late November and December 2026, and as of early October Valve had not said how its items will work. A repeat of the Cologne system would add another batch of on-demand Souvenirs.
- Check several stores. StatTrak and Souvenir order books are thinner than normal ones, so prices vary more between stores. Compare them on the marketplace comparison page before you buy.
